2000

TAS Swimming Club was formed with the opening of the TAS Aquatic Centre on June 30, 2000 under its first director of swimming Mr Adam Luscombe. At its inception the Club was known as “Cairns Trinity Aquatics” (CTA) and its emblem was a Trojan warrior.

2003

In June 2003, Adam left Cairns to take up his new role as Director of the Melbourne Aquatic Centre and Mr Andrew (Herbie) Howard was appointed as the new head coach.

2004

The beginning of the 2004/5 season the Club became TAS Swimming, symbolising a closer relationship with our chief sponsor Trinity Anglican School. A new emblem, the Sea Eagle, was selected to symbolise the future direction of the club. At the end of July, Andrew Howard resigned as Head Coach and the school and the club forged a new direction.

2005

In order to become one of the power houses in the state and within Australia the School/Club appointed in August 2005 a highly qualified and experienced Gold Licence Head Coach, Mr Michael Ursu.

2006-2010

In 2006, the development of the Club continued with the school and club focussing on consolidating its growth by building junior squads and supporting the strong learn-to-swim program both at White Rock and Marlin Coast. Under the leadership of Michael Ursu the results of the team continued to improve at regional and state level meets producing rising stars Kotuku Ngawati and Jack Gerard to name a few.

2010

In July 2010 Michael Ursu announced his retirement and Mr Morgan Knabe, former Canadian Olympic breastroker was appointed Senior Coach. Mr Bill Evans, TAS Director of Swimming and TAS Aquatic Centre staff have continued to promote the learn to swim program and foster the development of junior squads as a breeding ground for the successful state and national level squads as coached by Morgan Knabe.

2012

The membership of TAS swimming club was significantly enhanced when the swimmers from Mandella Parmenter’s Northern Beaches swim school joined the club for competition.  These swimmers continue to train at the Windmill College pool at Kewarra Beach.

2013-2021

Morgan left the position of Senior Coach at TAS and highly credentialed coach Duncan Todd joined us from St Peter’s Western SC in Brisbane as Head Coach of TAS Swimming and TAS Aquatic Centre Director.  

2022-current

Duncan finished his successful time at TAS Swimming and Alberto Lantieri was recruited from Palm Beach Currumbin to be the new Head Coach.
